IRVINE, Calif. — Attorneys and law students gathered at the University of California, Irvine School of Law on September 19, 2026, to watch a case unfold through live trial demonstrations. Mendez & Sanchez partner Jennifer Russell took part in the program, Masters in Trial, as a member of the plaintiff's team.
The Orange County Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) presented the full-day event. Masters in Trial teaches courtroom skills through demonstrations by experienced attorneys, giving attendees an opportunity to watch a complete trial or explore particular stages in depth. The UC Irvine program featured plaintiff and defense teams demonstrating trial presentation from opening statements through closing arguments. Attendees could also earn seven hours of general continuing legal education credit.
As a personal injury trial attorney, Ms. Russell represents people and families dealing with the consequences of serious injuries. At UC Irvine, she brought that experience to an educational setting, helping make the process of presenting a case more accessible to those watching. Programs like Masters in Trial give students a closer connection to the profession and practicing attorneys an opportunity to learn from their colleagues.
Thank you to the Orange County Chapter of ABOTA, UC Irvine School of Law and the participating attorneys for making the program possible. We were proud to see Ms. Russell share her courtroom experience with fellow attorneys and the next generation of trial lawyers.
